Climate Change 101

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) and its member communities take the threat of climate change seriously. As a Midwestern power supplier, the majority – 80 percent – of IMPA’s electricity comes from coal-fired generation. Over the years, IMPA has taken steps to reduce emissions that contribute to global warming and will continue to invest in economically feasible technology and programs designed to help reduce such emissions. IMPA and its members also want consumers to know that although these changes will come with a price tag, an appropriate legislative framework along with a focus on new technology and energy conservation can mitigate the burden of rising costs. With your help, we can do our part to reduce our impact on the environment and make sure the cost of implementing new energy technology will not financially impact consumers all at once. To truly understand the impact that global warming has on our environment, it is important to understand the science behind the process.
